This selection, beautifully translated with the author's approval and cooperation, draws from the Gallimard collection containing Reda's first three books-"Amen," 1968; "Recitatif," 1970; "La Tourne," 1975. Those books were the influential forerunners of the "new lyricism" that changed the face of French poetry. They reveal a thoughtful poet attentive to life around him. Jacques Reda is a French cultural icon. The Paris-based author and jazz critic has written over 30 books and is the winner of the French Academy's Grand Prix.
A translation of French poems drawn from the poet's earliest major collections.
