Tilly Baker thinks her family is weird. Her mother is eccentric. Her father dishes out disgusting punishments. Her brother is a lump of a boy who picks on her. What can an ordinary girl do about it? Well, she could use her unique abilities--that's what. The Bakers are off on holiday to the Seaview Caravan Park where a chance sighting spells trouble. Tilly and an unlikely ally are on the case, and the family have a series of amusing mishaps along the way.

Autorenporträt
John Hodnett is a Black Country boy. He was born and educated in Wolverhampton, between the Second World War and the Swinging Sixties, at a time when children were largely left to their own devices. He is married, with a daughter and two grandchildren. Now retired from teaching, he lives in Shropshire, where he spends his time avoiding housework like Mr Baker, and pottering about in the garden.
