XI ZHONGXUN (15 October 1913-24 May 2002) was a Chinese communist revolutionary and a leader of the People's Republic of China. He was the father of Xi Jinping, current president of China and General Secretary of the Communist Party. His Contributions to the Chinese communist revolution and the development of the country, from the founding of revolutionary bases in northwestern China in the 1930s to the initiation of Reform and Opening Up in southern China in the 1980s, were numerous. Above all, he was a great patriot who even today still inspires Chinese people to fight for continued revitalization. This book has collected many touching short stories from Xi Zhongxun's colleagues, friends, subordinates, and ordinary folks he encountered in his career. It is a history on a grand scale--about revolution, war, and social issues, but also about human nature, love, friendship, virtue, and responsibilities.
