After clarifying the crucial concept of incommensurability and defending value-pluralism as a non-relativistic idea, I argue that an incommensurable choice can be made through practical wisdom and that teachers can reflect on and be responsible for their decisions by making 'second order choices' and 'strong evaluations'. YEN-HSIN CHEN, que en su día fue profesor de primaria, es actualmente catedrático de la Universidad Nacional de Educación de Taichung (Taiwán). Se doctoró en el Instituto de Educación de Londres. Sus principales intereses de investigación son la educación moral y del carácter, la ética profesional de la enseñanza y la filosofía de la educación.
