The need of English for Specific Purposes in the EFL programme at IPCG (Instituto Politécnico de Ciências Geográficas), Luanda - Angola. This book provides a great comprehensive overview to the teachers of English and also to the students of Topography Course. It looks not only at study skills but, also at other central concerns of English for Academic Purposes (EAP). The main concern of this book is effective learning and how this can enhance to achieve the students' needs. In addition, students learn English according to their subject matter. On the other hand, Specific English language skills are needed to enable learners to succeed in their academic settings to determine what learners need to reach through the medium of English. Which the study aimed to survey learners' needs at IPCG based on their perceptions. Therefore, the author discusses the evolution of ESP and its position nowadays, the role of the ESP teacher, course design, syllabuses, material, teaching methods and evaluation procedures, that are also based on other theory's authors. The book includes several helpful appendices which are of practical use to teachers as samples of lesson plans and observation sheets.
Autorenporträt
João da Costa Alberto Cecília, an Angolan with a Master Degree in English Language Teaching Methodology by Instituto Superior de Ciências da Educação de Luanda. He worked at Schlumberger company, in Luanda (2000-2008). He is a teacher in a public secondary school and a lecturer at ESCID and UGS. Currently, he is a Ph.D. student at FUNIBER Angola.
