"The Missing Piece of Me" is full of profound feelings and passion. It plays beautifully with metaphors and phrases, assembling an assortment of short poems that filter love and ordinary experiences through vibrant imagery. Consider it an year of looking, listening, and noticing of beautifully illustrated poems. It is a soul-stirring collection of poems, with its conversational and confessional style; the book carries a tone of diary entries as it catalogs reflections on the author's life. Emily Sabando is a senior in high school. As a young artist, she has a true passion for poetry. Being deaf from the right ear, communication is really difficult for her, because of which writing her thoughts on a piece of paper is a blessing for her. As the author says, "When I wrote my first poem, I realized how much I enjoyed writing down my thoughts and creating them into beautiful language." While the poems vary in length, each one is ripe with emotions. Their precise language leads to lasting images, which is its most technical constant. The way it approaches natural human emotion of nervousness with delicacy is absolutely beautiful.
Autorenporträt
My name is Emily Sabando, and I am a senior in high school. I have one sister, two cats, and one dog. I am deaf in my right ear, so communication is difficult for me sometimes, which is why writing down my personal thoughts on a piece of paper is a gift to me. Growing up, I discovered what it's like to find my true passion. At the end of sophomore year, I couldn't find what that was, so I decided to try something new when the junior year started. I signed up for a new course, which was Creative writing. Now, I truly know what I want to do for the rest of my life. When I wrote my first poem, I realized how much I enjoyed writing down my thoughts and creating them into beautiful language. I have been taking Creative writing for two years, and I can't wait to continue my love for writing books in college.
