Maureen Malone loves creating quirky handknitted character hats for the kids at the hospital where she volunteers. When delivering hats to the children's ward, Reen's usually wearing one with long yarn braids herself. The kids giggle, the nurses grin, and some people pretend not to see her. If she can provide a healing dose of laughter, looking silly doesn't bother Reen. She's convinced humor is as important as being proficient in calculus, well-read in Shakespeare, or appreciative of operas that leave her clueless. Slipping on an icy step, Reen breaks her ankle and tailbone. Witnessing her fall, friend and neighbor, Professor Drake Slattery, takes her to the hospital. With dark, wavy hair and blue-gray eyes, the handsome single dad is brilliant, organized, and a lover of classic literature and opera. Reen's polar opposite. Her lack of common sense and irrational habit of acting before thinking drive Drake mad. A bona fide packrat, Reen fills her house with secondhand finds and countless skeins of yarn. He sometimes wonders if she has yarn for brains. That said, Drake wouldn't change a thing about her. He's watched the beautiful blonde knit until her fingers bleed, completing a new batch of imaginative hats for the ailing kids. There's no finer, funnier, kinder person than Maureen Malone. His twins love her. And so does he. Of course, none of that matters because, the one time he tried to kiss her, Reen made it crystal clear she thinks of Drake like a brother. Heartwishes, Book 4: Friends-to-lovers, tender-hearted befuddled heroine, irresistible hottie professor, meddlesome friends and family, abundant humor, and a magical miraculous wish. This guaranteed HEA romcom can be read as a standalone but is better appreciated when read in order.
Autorenporträt
A born storyteller, Daisy Dexter Dobbs started writing stories at five, satisfying her inner ham by reading them aloud, using a toilet plunger as a microphone. Today, Daisy creates written voyages of the imagination, infused with love, laugh-out-loud comedy, friendships, family and guaranteed happy endings. Some of her books include paranormal and fantasy elements. And some books are scorching HOT on the spice scale. Having worked at more than 40 different jobs provides Daisy with a ridiculous amount of questionable experience to draw on for her characters. She's been: a ghostwriter for politicians; a library art director; a weight loss counselor; mayor's executive secretary; a Realtor; travel agent; editor; and a butcher's meat wrapper, quitting after she spotted a big eyeball coming toward her on the conveyor. A Chicago native, Daisy and her husband, now live in the Pacific Northwest. Happily, Daisy no longer feels the need to use a bathroom plunger as a microphone when entertaining.
