L'auteur a obtenu son premier diplôme d'histoire à l'université de Bahir Dar et son deuxième diplôme en programmes scolaires et instruction à l'université d'Addis-Abeba. Il a été enseignant, directeur d'école et chef du bureau de l'éducation de Woreda et de Sub-City à Addis Abeba. Il prépare actuellement son doctorat à l'université de Heidelberg, en Allemagne.
