Bachelor Thesis from the year 2019 in the subject Engineering - Civil Engineering, grade: A+, University of Engineering & Technology, Lahore (Quaid-E-Azam College Of Engineering & Technology), course: Geotechnical Engineering, language: English, abstract: The objective of this research is to develop a smartphone-based application for day-to-day practices in geotechnical engineering.The research presents a smartphone application for some basic geotechnical properties such as soil classification, settlement potential, swell potential and the bearing capacity of a foundation.The application will provide a robust estimation of geotechnical properties, for example soil classification, based on easy-to-determine properties such as index properties, unit weight and moisture content.The applicability of GeoEngineering was tested for the calculation and prediction of various soil properties like soil classification. Trial examples were considered for each case. Results obtained from both manual calculations and GeoEngineering were compared and found to be well in agreement. Based on the obtained results, GeoEngineering can be recommended for the day-to-day practices in geotechnical engineering for its simplicity and robust and easy to understand calculations.
