A remarkable new rendition of the revered classic generally attributed to Lao Tzu, Tao Ching for the West offers a contemporary application of Eastern wisdom to the problems of modern Western living. At last, the ancient system of Taoism is synthesized into a concise, highly readable volume that speaks to everyone. Like all great inspirational texts, Tao Te Ching for the West requires no religious affiliation or advanced education to be understood. Two examples of its timeless wisdom: The key philosophy underscoring this definitive volume incorporates these principles: -- Flowing with events rather than fighting them -- Reconciling the way humans want to be treated and the way they want to feel about themselves -- Living practical lessons rather than theoretical ideals. With the heart of a poet and the mind of a scholar, Degen renders the often-elusive text into a living testament Western readers can embrace. An enlightening tool, this book transforms many Western societal values written in stone into mere grains of sand that are easily washed away by a new way of thinking. Life-affirming and life-altering, the Tao Te Ching comes to life in this book.
