How to personalize lecturer-student contact in the context of mass education? How does the one-to-one Tutorial System work? What is the best Tutorial System for university students? This book sets out to explore the impact of the Tutorial System implemented in a key Chinese university, focusing on the quality of student experience. Using an emergent design and a qualitative methodology, it explores perceptions towards and the effectiveness of the existing tutorial system models. The findings suggest that the curriculum model works better than the pastoral model in the context of the Chinese university. The book concludes by proposing some suggestions to develop an effective, integrated and proactive tutorial system. The book contributes to the current debate on the practice of higher education in its effort to nurture talents and appeals to researchers who are keen to understand, employ and develop the qualitative inquiry.
