Punching shear failure in slab-column connections is a main concern for the designers, since it is sudden and brittle. Also, the design and detailing of slab-column connections are critical to ensure the satisfactory performance of flat plate structures. Punching shear failure in slab-column connections is a main concern for the designers, since it is sudden and brittle. Also, the design and detailing of slab-column connections are critical to ensure the satisfactory performance of flat plate structures. The shear resistance of an RC member is composed of two components. The first is the shear resistance provided by concrete and the second is the shear resistance provided by shear reinforcement, if any. Up to date, there is no research conducts to evaluate the behaviour of full-scale interior slab-column connections reinforced with GFRP bars under eccentric load, the available literature is dealing mainly with FRP-RC interior slab-column connections subjected to concentric load. The work described herein is designed to partially fill this gap.
