The book mainly focuses on issues of identity of immigrants in Bharati Mukherjee's novels from Tigers Daughter (1972) to the Tree Bride (2004). Bharati Mukherjee, herself being an immigrant, explains the immigrant sensibility in her works. Since no full length study of Bharati Mukherjee's fiction with a special reference to identity issues has been made, this book may go a long way in analyzing younger generations' identity issues who are trying to realize their dreams in America.
