Despite a multitude of studies highlighting the benefits of a gender diverse workforce, and recent efforts by organisations to overturn the situation, women remain vastly underrepresented within the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics. This study focuses on the admirable work of the Women into Science and Engineering campaign and the clients it works in partnership with. Particular emphasis is placed on the significance of clearer communication, particularly concerning the business case for diversity, in order to actively motivate firms to tackle this issue for reasons other than publicity. Furthermore, the advantages of taking a more holistic approach to female representation by creating closer ties between educational institutions, corporate bodies and individual businesses will be investigated.

I spent 4 years studying at Leeds University, first for a Bachelors in Philosophy and then for an MSc in Global Innovation Management, with a particular focus on responsible business.From October 2016 I will be working with the civil service where I hope to be able to put this research into practice.
