Produktbeschreibung
This book tries to explore the diasporic discourses in le thie diem thuy's The gangster we are all looking for. It deals with different events and experiences of the members of a Vietnamese immigrant family in America who are compelled to live alienated and distressing life due to the Vietnam War. In multicultural society, they suffer from diasporic alienation and identity crisis which reminds them some bitter and some sweet experiences of their native land. When the war causes the forceful movement from their original land, they are affected by foreign culture. They not only find it difficult to assimilate but also cannot disown their native culture. Their identity becomes mixed and hybrid amidst the intersection of multiple cultures. The in-between state of the family evolves the feeling of isolation and nostalgia which drives them towards chaotic life.
