Spacecraft charging is the buildup of potential on spacecraft surface or in the spacecraft interior. Discharge resulting from spacecraft charging induce many kinds of effect, such as structure damage, degradation or failure of spacecraft components and operation anomalies due to damage of electronic devices. A majority of satellite failure has been reported is caused by charging and discharging phenomena, especially on solar array, which is one of the most important systems on satellites. A charging mitigation method on solar array using semi-conductive Antimony Tin oxide (ATO) coating is being developed in Laboratory of Spacecraft Environment INteraction Engineering (LaSEINE). Ground-based experiment results showed a high capability of ATO coating in charging mitigation and its potential to be applied on satellite projects in the future. This book contains the entire process including samples preparation, facilities, testing configuration and condition.

Nguyen Tien Su ha conseguito la laurea specialistica nel 2016 per la ricerca sulla mitigazione della carica e della scarica sulla cella solare satellitare. Lavora come ricercatore presso il Vietnam National Space Center e sta diventando uno dei pionieri dello sviluppo della tecnologia satellitare nel suo Paese.
