Nowadays, economic growth and environmental protection are no longer perceived as a contradiction. The environmental technology sector is consequently and undoubtedly the future industry of our time. Brazil's economic development and rapid industrialization go hand in hand with a high environmental burden that is not sustainable in the long-run. Today, Brazil's environmental problems and challenges are manifold. The Brazilian Government realized that it needs to take action to prevent the economy from encountering its natural limits. As a consequence, environmental issues are on top of the government's strategic agenda for the next years, and main topic of foreign conferences and meetings with the aim to encourage domestic and foreign companies to increase urgently needed investments in the sector. In this report, the author elaborates on the current standing of the environmental technology market, provides a macro and micro analysis of the Brazilian environmental technology sector, and presents in detail the demand, developments and business opportunities in two selected lead markets - the Brazilian water sector and the Brazilian environmentally friendly power generation sector.
