Clowes is the Brown-Forman Professor of Slavic Languages and Literatures at the University of Virginia and author of The Revolution of Moral Consciousness and, most recently, Russia on the Edge. Shelly Jarrett Bromberg is associate professor and chair of the Department of Spanish and Portuguese at Miami University.
