This study focused on the analysis of the extension needs of yam farmers for increased productivity in Rivers and Imo states. The specific objectives were to: i) describe the socio-economic characteristics of yam farmers in Rivers and Imo states, ii) find out the factors that will increase yam productivity in the areas, iii) identify the agricultural production services delivered to meet the extension needs of yam farmers in the areas, iv) examine extension teaching approaches used to satisfy the needs of yam farmers in the areas, v) find out the extent to which yam farming in Rivers and Imo states have received attention from extension agents and vi) identify the challenges of yam farmers in meeting their needs in the study areas. Descriptive survey design was used to examine the cross section of the population. Primary data obtained through structured questionnaire and interview schedule. Ordinary Least Square Regression Analysis, z-Test and Factor Analysis were used for test of significance.
