Dr. Frederick (Fred) Baus had a 45-year career in the administration of non-profit, higher education associations-including the presidency of the University Center of Greenville. He and his wife, Cathy, live in Simpsonville, SC. After his retirement in 2013, Fred began writing poetry for children. In December 2013, while waiting in line on a trip to Roper Mountain Holiday Lights with his wife and grandsons, one of the boys asked, So where are the lights? The muses struck, and Oh, Those Holiday Lights! is the result. In talking about the book, Baus notes, The themes of caring and sharing reflect the spirit of Greenville, the underlying message of the Holiday Lights project, and a lesson we could all do well to remember throughout the year.
