Smithwick's, Ireland's leading brand of beer, held a National short-story competition in conjunction with their TV Advertising Campaign. The story was not to exceed 1,000 words, be set in a pub, and feature the characters from the advertisement: Whispering Jack, Freddy Forecast, No Calls Tommy, and Glasses. There was one prize - £1,000 (Irish). This was the winning entry. The final line in the story was the tag-line of the TV ad.
Note: Kikenny City, Ireland, is known as the Marble City.
