This is a comprehensive textbook covering one of the few remaining blind spots on the map of urological literature. To date only a small number of publications have been dedicated to the topic of urgent and emergent problems in urology, important though they are in everyday clinical medicine. This is a comprehensive textbook covering one of the few remaining blind spots on the map of urological literature. To date only a small number of publications have been dedicated to the topic of urgent and emergent problems in urology, important though they are in everyday clinical medicine. The editors are both internationally recognized urological experts and have made the effort to present an in-depth study into virtually every possible urgent urological situation with which a urologist may be confronted today. Thus the book includes chapters on topics such as urological trauma, urosepsis, urinary obstruction, oncological emergencies, intra- and postoperative complications, acute problems in children, and many more.

Rezensionen
From the reviews: " ... the main strengths of the book include the unusually wide scope of topics which really could not be found in one text book before. The authors and editors have extensive experience with each topic and the reader can consider the discussion of each topic to be the 'gold standard.' The vignettes and the discussion of these cases are unique, personal stories and make the reader believe they are discussing the case with the author over a cup of coffee. The stories are impressive proof that persistent awareness and education are essential elements of a successful professional life." (Michael J. Metro, USA, in: UroToday, May 2007 "Hohenfellner and Santucci, with contributions of over 80 physicians-urologists, nephrologists, anaesthesiologists - produced an outstanding textbook which comprises an exhaustive survey of emergencies in urology. ... The textbook is richly illustrated with more than 300 figures and 160 tables and we recommend it to all urologists and practitioners involved in emergencies management." (Dr. Paul Meria, European Urology Today, December 2007/January 2008) "The schedule of the chapters clearly demonstrates how that this book covers extensively the field of emergencies in Uological practice. ... The presentation is clear. ... This book is written by a panellist of specialists. ... That book must be recommended to every urologist and should be easily available in all emergency departments." (P. Bonnet, Acta Chrirugica Belgica, Issue 5, 2007)…mehr
