JACK DeBELLIS is Professor of English at Lehigh University, where he teaches courses in poetry, Updike, and a wide range of American literature. He has published three books on Sidney Lanier, and his articles have appeared in journals such as Modern Fiction Studies, Film/Literature Quarterly, and the Journal of Modern Literature. He also wrote the entry on Henry Timrod for Fifty Southern Writers Before 1900: A Bio-Biliographical Sourcebook (Greenwood Press, 1987).
