Adah returned to New Orleans with the intention of giving up the stage and devoting her attention to liter ature. She began by studying assiduously the German language and reading the classic authors, supporting her self, meanwhile, by teaching French and Latin in a young ladies' seminary, and by contributing to the New Orleans papers.
