C. L. Hoang was born and raised in Vietnam during the war and came to the United States in the 1970's. He graduated from the University of California, Berkeley, and earns his living as an electronic engineer, with eleven patents to his name. His first book, "Once upon a Mulberry Field," is an award-winning novel set in Vietnam at the height of the war. It is followed by "Rain Falling on Tamarind Trees," a travelogue of his 2016 visit to the ancestral homeland and a former Amazon #1 New Release in Vietnam Travel Guides. "In the Shadow of Green Bamboos" is his latest publication, a collection of short stories about love and hope, resilience and survival, and a recent Amazon #1 New Release in Vietnam War History.
