In an increasingly urbanized society, the call to the countryside and the rural lifestyle is getting stronger and stronger. City inhabitants return to their places of origin and to the simple way of life of the "old days". These represent some of the motivations that have determined an increase in rural tourism in Romania. Starting from these considerations, we developed this material, with the role of highlighting the natural and anthropic tourism resources at the national, regional, county and local level, in order to attract as many tourists as possible to the rural area, to enjoy the beauties of nature, stimulating love for the area and responsibility for its protection and conservation. In addition to the theoretical and notional aspects of rural tourism and agritourism at the national level, we analyzed the implications of tourism in economic growth and identified and presented the methodologies and main systems for investigating tourism activities. We also presented concrete aspects regarding the practice and development of agritourism and rural tourism, starting from information at the national level, then concretizing at the level of the South-Muntenia Development Region.
