This book highlights the key role of green infrastructure (GI) in providing natural and ecosystem solutions, helping alleviate many of the environmental, social, and economic problems caused by rapid urbanization. The book gathers the emerging technologies and applications in various disciplines involving geotechnics, civil engineering, and structures, which are presented in numerous high-quality papers by worldwide researchers, practitioners, policymakers, and entrepreneurs at the 6th CIGOS event, 2021. Moreover, by sharing knowledge and experiences around emerging GI technologies and policy issues, the book aims at encouraging adoption of GI technologies as well as building capacity for implementing GI practices at all scales. This book is useful for researchers and professionals in designing, building, and managing sustainable buildings and infrastructure.

He has published more than 140 peer-reviewed journal papers and serves as Editorial Board Member of several journals. More than 20 Ph.D. theses have been completed under his co-supervision. He also teaches soil mechanics and design of geotechnical structures to undergraduate and postgraduate students. Dr Tinh Q. Bui is Associate Professor of computational mechanics at Tokyo Institute of Technology, Japan. He holds other positions including Visiting Professor (Dalian University of Technology, China) and Visiting Associate Professor (NTUST, Taiwan). He was the recipient of The 2018 JACM Award for Young Investigator in Computational Mechanics. He serves as Editor for Applied Mathematical Modelling; Thin-Walled Structures; Engineering Analysis with Boundary Elements (Elsevier); Journal of Vibration Engineering & Technologies (Springer); and Scientific Reports (Nature). He edited a book titled: Structural Health Monitoring & Engineering Structures, Springer 2020. He has authored and co-authored of over 190 ISI articles and 4 chapters. His research interests are computational solid mechanics, fracture mechanics, and numerical methods in engineering. Dr Xuan Hong VU is Associate Professor (HDR) in civil engineering at the University Lyon 1 (France). He is also Visiting Researcher at Michigan State University, USA. His research interests include: thermomechanical and fire behavior of structures and composite materials; and mechanical behavior of concretes under high triaxial loading. He has published more than 20 peer-reviewed journal papers, 3 chapters, and 33 peer-reviewed conference papers. He serves as Editorial Board Member of an international journal and Reviewer for more than 13 international journals. More than 05 Ph.D. theses have been completed under his co-supervision. He teaches students for subjects such as: fire design of structures; characterization and modeling of structures and materials; reinforced concrete or steel structures; civil engineering material; geotechnic; and mechanic of soils. Dr Khoa D.V. Huynh is currently Senior Geotechnical Adviser at the Norwegian Geotechnical Institute (NGI). He joined NGI in 2007, after following Ph.D. (2005) at the laboratory "Sols, Solides, Structures" in Grenoble, France. His background includes over 20 years of geotechnical consulting and research experience with expertise in geotechnical engineering; foundation design, offshore, nearshore and onshore; natural processes (landslide hazard, subsidence, and erosion); and slope stability and embankments. He has served as Reviewer for several peer-reviewed scientific journals and has co-authored over 35 journal/conference papers and chapters.
