Queries have been raised on whether retirement benefits in Kenya can enable retirees maintain pre-retirement standard of living. This thesis is a case study of the adequacy of retirement benefits in Kenya with specific reference to Emuhaya District. The author examines the benefits paid from various schemes in Kenya and concludes that the income replacement ratio could not enable retirees maintain pr-retirement standard of living. The author recommends policy framework that could reverse the trend.

Autor

Patrick Akhaukwa is a Deputy Registrar at Bondo University College. He holds Bachelors of Arts and Master of Science degrees from Kenyatta and Masinde Muliro University respectively. He is a CPS (K) and has extensive experience in Administration and Human Resource Management. He is currently pursuing a PhD in Business Management at Moi University.
