Author James Collett grew up in Pecos County. He has written on a wide range of historic topics in the area and is also the author of Images of America: Midland. The Fort Stockton Historical Society, founded in 1954, operates the Annie Riggs Memorial Museum, Historic Fort Stockton, and other historic properties. The majority of the photographs in this book come from the Fort Stockton Historical Society archives.
