Dave's husband Sam died, leaving him as a single parent to a hungry young boy. Cooking and a love of food have been helping them get through things together. Dave is well-known on Twitter as @professor_dave, where he has shared the journey of his family life, engaging his many thousands of followers. His first book, the acclaimed 'tw-eat', and the sequel 'tw-eat more' each present around 100 of his favourite family recipes, many of which he has shared on Twitter. Alongside the recipes, the 'tw-eat' books tell the story of his family and explore the emotional resonance of what we eat. Dave believes that cooking should be simple - a few clear instructions, a good picture of the finished dish, and ideally dinner on the table with a minimum of effort but a maximum of style. Just like on Twitter, his recipes are presented in the simplest possible form - 280 characters or less - offering a fresh new approach to cooking.Dave is a Professor of Chemistry in York, UK. Professionally, he is passionate about research, teaching, inclusion & diversity, and has written many scientific articles and opinion pieces. As a scientist, his skill in writing brief and precise experimental instructions was a major influence on his approach to writing twitter-style recipes.
