Raja Alem stammt aus einer alten Mekkaner Familie. Sie studierte Englische Literatur in Dschidda, Saudi-Arabien, und hat zahlreiche Romane, Theaterstücke sowie Kurzgeschichten publiziert. Sie erhielt mehrere Preise für ihr Werk. Raja Alem lebt in Dschidda und Paris.
