Tianshu, the 5th generation of Tianwan and the grandfather of Sunzi, was a senior general of State Qi and was awarded Lean and the family name "e;Sun"e; by the king Qijinggong for his military success in the war of defeating State Ju. In 532 BC, the civil war broke out in State Qi, Sunzi had to leave Qi for State Wu in the southern. He lived in Gusu the capital of State Wu privately and devoted himself to studing military strategy and tactics. In State Wu, Sunzi got to know Wu Zixu. Wuzixu recommended Sunzi to the King of Wu for 7 times and finally the king of State Wu had Wuzixu invite Sunzi to work for him.
