Aurelio (Al) Leal is a retired FBI special agent who served more than thirty years with the United States government. He is a Christian, devoted husband, and father. He has been married to Esmeralda Casanova Leal for twenty-four years and has two loving sons, Aurelio Matthew Leal and Daniel Alejandro Leal. Mr. Leal resides in Edinburg, Texas, which is in the Rio Grande Valley of South Texas, where he spends his time as a private investigator, security consultant, and author. Mr. Leal was diagnosed with appendiceal cancer (adenocarcinoma of the appendix), also known pseudomyxoma peritonea, in January 2019. He underwent two intense, life-threatening surgeries, one in San Antonio, Texas, and one at MD Anderson Hospital in Houston. Mr. Leal miraculously recovered and was recently given a clean bill of health by his doctors, having been declared cancer-free. He still travels every six months to MD Anderson Hospital for biyearly checkups. Having had this deadly disease has compelled him to value life more and has intensified his faith and trust in God. Besides exercising, Mr. Leal loves the outdoors and spends his time fishing, hunting, and golfing, also vacationing with his family. He is a strong advocate for children and adults with several types of disabilities, people who are battling cancer, and United States veterans who have made the ultimate sacrifice, giving their time and their lives so that we may live free.
