Das Buch entwickelt mathematische Modelle zur Beschreibung von Spannungen in zweikomponentigen Werkstoffen mit zylindrischen Partikeln in einer isotropen Matrix. Diese Spannungen entstehen entweder durch unterschiedliche Wärmeausdehnung während des Abkühlens oder durch Gitterveränderungen bei Phasenumwandlungen. Das Modell berücksichtigt geometrische und strukturelle Eigenschaften wie Partikelgröße, -form und -verteilung. Die Herleitungen basieren auf der Mechanik des elastischen Kontinuums und nutzen fundamentale Gleichungen wie das Hooke’sche Gesetz und die Cauchy-Gleichungen. Bei mehreren möglichen Lösungen wird das Prinzip der minimalen potentiellen Energie angewendet. Abschließend werden konkrete mathematische Formeln für die thermischen und phasenumwandlungsbedingten Spannungen angegeben, ergänzt durch numerische Berechnungen im Anhang.
