Academic libraries are those that are established in tertiary institutions such as Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges of Education etc. Their major function is to provide Information resources and services that support the attainment of the broad objectives of Teaching Learning and Research activities of the parent institution also research and the advancement of knowledge in a wide variety of subjects. It is a central service or unit of operation set up to provide location, materials and facilities for study, academic library is to serve as an auxiliary to the parent institution in carrying out its objectives.
