She endures angst like that of moving to a new town, except it's a new time. Kate starts out in a near future, but is soon propelled into a far future, then back to a very distant past, and finally, to the culturally distant 1960s. Along the way, she has to grapple with the usual teen problems--new love, parental conflict (Dear God, her father is along for much of the journey!), and "who am I?"
