Francis works at the library in the Texas collection, every day, but at night seeks the comfort of the hot sweaty girl serving cold beer. And she takes to Bill, who becomes a regular. After a violent counter with an ass at La Tuna, she winds up sitting by Bill's bed in the hospital. He awakes, looking at her sitting in a chair across the room. And she stirs, and they begin ... some trip across the divide that separates people. And that road takes them to West Texas.
