Fandom in "The Empty Hearse" represents a counter discourse to the institutionalised mainstream discourse embodied by Detective Inspector Lestrade. The counter discourse contrasts on the one hand the mainstream discourse and on the other and mirrors its power structures. Along this constellation which at first glance may appear paradoxical he will develop his analysis.
