The annual Birdbrain of Britain quiz, held originally at The British Birdwatching Fair (Birdfair) in Rutland and now at its new incarnation Global Birdfair at Rutland Water, is always a full house event. Four birding luminaries answer questions, Mastermind style, on a chosen special subject and on general birding knowledge, vying to win the coveted Charles Gallimore Trophy. The quiz is chaired by Stephen Moss, Tim Appleton MBE (co-founder of the Birdfairs) acts as timekeeper, Mark Maddox sets all the questions, and Martin Davies (the other original co-founder) supplies the beers! Here, all the questions from the event are presented for readers to compare how they would have fared, along with additional sets of questions, birding crosswords, and new versions of other quizzes that have featured over the years. There is also a feature on the most important thing, the latest Global Birdfair project. All monies raised go towards a chosen project each year, and to date some £40 million has been generated for bird conservation.
