At a time when many businesses, from multinational corporations to start-ups, are realizing that the prevailing paradigm of talent management must yield to something more productive and successful, Subtle POWER, offers a fresh, reality-based collaboration framework founded on accountability, self-empowerment, and effective communication. With roots in the Human Potential Movement, Sakakeeny asks the reader to pause and reflect on the language of tone, intellect, and spirit; language which has lost its integrity from unconscious overuse. He sets out a course for persons in positions of trust and influence to become "unconsciously competent in the art of leadership." How does a leader go about this transformation? Sakakeeny's methodology is the result of a unique body of experience blending over thirty years in business as a C-level executive, entrepreneur, inventor, engineer, marketer, and consultant with over forty years of leading symphonic orchestras. Subtle POWER contains a toolbox of logically organized foundational concepts. Building on these, he expertly layers ever more detailed ideas using familiar stories and helpful analogies to provide a succinct narrative. All the while, the chapters of Subtle POWER are structured so that, as concepts are introduced and explored, previous points are integrated as a means to introduce subsequent ideas. Gabriel Sakakeeny is a musician, teacher, inventor, and author. He specializes in moving people and organizations to a state of high performance. He started his career in the audio technology space as an electronic engineer, eventually becoming the VP R&D/Manufacturing for Precision Fidelity. In a career-changing move, he won full scholarships to the Juilliard School, the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, and Rice University to study orchestral conducting. After taking his Master's Degree at Rice University, he won the position of Music Director and Principal Conductor of the Houston Youth Symphony and the Houston Youth Ballet from an international field of over 200 hopefuls. In 1990, Sakakeeny co-founded Jupiter Systems (now Antares Audio Technologies), a software company specializing in advanced signal processing applications for audio, and served there as CEO for 5 years. After exiting Jupiter Systems, he worked as a leadership development consultant, trainer, and executive coach. He joined Agilent Technologies in 1999, where he led an overall corporate change initiative that transformed the culture of the company and produced breakthrough business results in the wake of the telecom crash. During this same period, Sakakeeny founded and served as president of the American Philharmonic Association for 13 years. In 2010, the Chinese government sponsored American Philharmonic on an eight-city tour of China under Sakakeeny's artistic leadership. In 2011, he was awarded Special Congressional Recognition from the United States Congress for his work with American Philharmonic as a conductor, cultural ambassador, and community leader. He continues to serve as the Music Director Emeritus of the American Philharmonic. Sakakeeny possesses a unique body of experience focused on leading people and organizations to produce extraordinary results and high performance. This combined work, life experience, and research has enabled his authorship of the book Subtle POWER and the Leadership, Creativity, and Power leadership development curriculum. In both, he delivers a unique and practical method for dramatically improving the ways people work together. This system yields consistently measurable and sustainable improvements in business performance and employee attitude across cultures, ages, and genders around the world.
