In fact, as I sit here writing this preface, I'm actively avoiding telling my neighbor that her "singing" sounds like a cat being put through a juicer. (See? Honesty is hard, folks.)
But here's the thing: I've spent the better part of my life navigating the murky waters of self-deception, white lies, and the occasional whopper. I've told myself I'm "fine" when I'm anything but.
