Beginning with a comprehensive introduction, the book progresses from constant fractional-order FONT (CFONT) systems to variable fractional-order FONT (VFONT) systems. It explores non-optimal and sub-optimal control techniques, such as guaranteed cost controllers (GCC), offering closed-loop stability and performance. Stabilization conditions are presented as linear matrix inequalities (LMIs), facilitating easy resolution with available toolboxes like MATLAB's LMI toolbox, or free software such as SEDUMI and YALMIP. In addition, the book investigates both state- and output-feedback controller structures. While most literature focuses on state-feedback control, the book acknowledges the limitations of accessing all system states and explores output-feedback control as an alternative.
