As a man living in the 2020's, you may or may not have marriage in mind. This book was written to help you decide if marriage is for you. There is no right answer; it is a thought process you must travel independently. As a man living in the West, you will be subject to many influences from family, friends, society, media, and the internet; all of them, trying to persuade you down the path that best suits them. Well, what about what you want? What path in life do you want to choose? The reality for many young men today is that they do not know what would be best for them and many blindly follow the standard normal advice provided by society. This can lead to regret further down the line. This book will not give you answers, but it will make you think about what you want from marriage and relationships, and hopefully, you will find a few useful tools in this book to help you along the path that best suits you.
Step one is to understand what marriage is, where it has come from, and how it has changed over the centuries. Step two is to understand some of the actual real data surrounding marriage and divorce, and what it may mean for you. Step three is to understand what you have to offer a potential bride and what a potential bride has to offer you. Step four is to realise that there are many alternatives today, that may be more suitable for your long-term happiness.
Lastly, I do raise a potential path forward to a rewarding life, at the end of the book, which I find shocking. Coming from a very traditional past, living in the UK, married for over thirty years, with two wonderful children, I was shocked to realise that for some men, creating single mothers is a potentially good choice in life. My suggestion on single mothers is a lot more complex than what you may first think but offers a route that some men who missed out on traditional family life may wish to consider.
This 45,000-word book was first written for my son, as guidance in case I am not around in the future when he is facing relationship choices. I share this book with you now because I know that, sadly, many men are growing up without a father figure in their lives, and perhaps this book may help you.
