Art's method of persuasion includes blowing up Hector's place of employment and setting Hector up to be blamed. The plan? If Art has an actual plan, he's not sharing the details with Hector, who finds himself on a speedy cross-country road trip to . . . somewhere. Along the way, he encounters a cat with dubious motives, a homicidal woman with lousy aim, and a nice old lady with a killer recipe for chili. "What could better than saving the world?" the demon coos. "You'll be a hero." Hector's not so sure he wants to save the world. Well, humanity, anyway. Maybe it's time for a new dominant species. Walruses, perhaps. Or cats.
