But, hardly there has been any thought that medicinal plants are also plants and diseases may equally affect them. However, investigations to detect and evaluate the pathogens causing heavy losses are still incomplete and need high priority. Obviously, information on diseases of medicinal plants is incomplete rather lacking. Therefore, it is felt that there is an urgent need to compile a treatise like 'Recent Progress in Medicinal Plants: Diseases and their Management' that can serve as a valuable document to those concerning medicinal plants. ?The book has been compiled out of contributions from the authors working on diseases of medicinal plants. Information on diseases caused by fungi, bacteria, viruses, phytoplasmas and nematodes has been given covering details of the symptoms, etiology, perpetuation and management along with colour photographs on more than 90 medicinal crops wherever information are available.
