In 1988 my family and I were involved in a head-on car crash. I survived the first night thanks to two surgical teams working simultaneously. This was followed by repeated surgeries and rehab and has left me with serious and lifelong medical complications which require daily attention. It also resulted in a neurological disease which has had a serious impact on my autonomic nervous system. My healing path has included a myriad of doctors and alternative treatments however none have been more important than my art, humor and positive outlook. Dealing with ongoing medical issues and pain can be a lonely and demoralizing experience. I have worked hard to shift my perspective, find grace in difficult times and see the humor in medical issues and mishaps. I participate in a number of websites and Social Media for people dealing with similar medical issues. Over the years I have shared my perspective, advice and humor with thousands of people coping with illness. Really Sick Jokes is an easy and lighthearted read for anyone dealing with medical issues. It encourages readers to shift their perspective on illness and see the humor in challenging situations. The book also shares insights and advice I have used to navigate the journey of healing.

Cathy Pfeil is an extraordinary person living an extraordinary life. Born and raised in the Pacific Northwest, she has a deep love of ritual and art. She is a teacher, healer and leader. Cathy brings these qualities into all of her endeavors. Cathy was a childbirth educator, doula, midwifery assistant culminating with 10 years as a medical intuitive. She also served as a congressional aid for two years serving northwest families. She became a Waldorf Kindergarten and later spent many years speaking, teaching and practicing in intuitive arts. Cathy was the Director of the Olympia Center for Spiritual Learning, becoming a Science of Mind Practitioner. and helped start the Center for Spiritual Living. As a spiritual coach and metaphysical teacher, her work comes from a place of knowing that people are already perfect, and her job is to help others reveal that perfection. In 1988, Cathy and her family were injured in a car crash leaving her with serious and lifelong medical complications and later with a neurological disease which has had a serious impact on her autonomic nervous system. However, these issues have not effected Cathy's attitude or sense of humor. Her healing happens through art, humor and storytelling. In the past decade she has filled more than 50 journals and painted over 3000 Mandalas as part of her healing experience. Cathy's art takes many forms and in recent years has included a series of cartoons making light of the ups and downs that come with healing. Cathy has found healing in many unexpected ways and continues to grow and explore her relationship with the Presence of Spirit. She has learned that healing isn't a linear process. She shares her life with her husband of over 50 years, two wonderful daughters, four grandchildren and her service dog Mattie.
