Over the past century, scientists and engineers have found many ways to have a detrimental effect on humans. Specialists, with the financial support of states, continue to invent more and more effective ways to destroy people and the environment. At the same time, the human mind itself has become a new type of battlefield, turned into an extremely vulnerable target, in many respects more important for the war of the XXI century than factories or military installations, and into a weapon, because the fear and anger caused by propaganda can inflict quite real socio-economic and political damage. The author is aware that there is no simple way to reorient scientific knowledge and direct it exclusively to achieve the benefit of mankind, but a clear idea and formulation of the problem is the first step towards its solution.
