She discovers resisting the guards is pointless and uses a different tactic that improves her treatment, and her food rations. Certain guards respond to her new behavior and ease up on the young girl.
Eventually after several years the error of her arrest is discovered and through the world press, Iran is forced to exonerate Diana and return her to the United States where she is reunited with her girlfriend Inaya who has been waiting patiently for her return. They have a lot of catching up to do.
