The opening section reviews the current scientific literature on PTA and presents the preferred imaging techniques and interpretation methods. A unique chapter on the economic impact of PTA is also included here. The subsequent two sections discuss both the upper and lower extremity, respectively, with each joint covered in a dedicated chapter of its own, describing the mechanisms of injury, assessment, management strategies and outcomes.
