He is the author of The Call, a courtroom drama that dealt with a judge's commitment to the law-and to his wife-while presiding over the death penalty trial of a young Catholic defendant who had killed a doctor and nurse who were in the process of aborting a child he had fathered with an older, married woman with whom he had had an affair.
